Hello Baby #2!

Now that Addysn is ONE, I thought I would share how we found out we were expecting her.

Carl and I always knew we wanted to have more than one child. We both have siblings so it would only be fair right? However we, didn’t think we would have waited 5 years, but maybe it was because we heard “When are you having the next one?” or “She’s getting out the way fast for the next one” too many times that we just wanted to wait.

So here’s the story.

Announcement!

I was on the Nexplanon birth control until February 2019. It is a form of birth control that is placed inside of your arm. Which taking that off and going to the patch (another form of BC) is another story within itself. I finally decided to just stop birth control. My body was hating me and I went for months being sick! I had previously taken many pregnancy tests from April through September because I had the symptoms. I was throwing up, my cycle was always late, my breasts were tingling. Everything! Literally, I felt miserable for several days a week!

However, I kept getting negative results. I was feeling so bad one day that after work, I went straight to an urgent care. I told them what was going on and they made me take a pregnancy test. Maybe they could detect something the pregnancy tests couldn’t. I just wanted to know what was wrong with me! Of course, the test came back negative and the nurse told me that it could be early stages of diabetes. Huh? She asked if I wanted to pay to have the urine sample sent to the lab and tested again. I told her nah, a negative is a negative lady.

After that, I finally made a doctors appointment and told my doctor what was going on and she mentioned that it could just be my hormones trying to balance. Okay so maybe nothing is truly wrong with me. I thought it took at least 3-6 months for your body to adjust to not being on BC. I’m not an expert, so I’ll give it time. I’ll just continue to take care of myself and hope that it passes soon.

My cycle came at least 10 days late every month since September. So my September cycle didn’t come until early October. My October cycle didn’t come until almost November. So when it came to my November cycle, I was expecting it early December. Normally 14 days is the cut off (according to my Flo app). I waited until day 10 and I got up that morning to get ready for work and took a pregnancy test. I couldn’t wait anymore. I haven’t went past 10 days before. I had gotten so many negative results, I was looking for another one anyway.

A little part of me was nervous, but I picked it up and it was POSITIVE! I paused. Wait what? No way. I hid it before I told Carl and would take another one the next morning when I got up. Took that one, and POSITIVE! Okay, so that’s two (I’m obviously in denial). Let me take another one at night just to be sure. Third times a charm! Took that one and POSITIVE! Okay it’s official. I’m pregnant!

Our first doctor appointment!

I called my doctor to schedule an appointment. With my last pregnancy, I was definitely not this aware this early (if you haven’t already, you should go read it here!) so I wanted to be sure I acted on it. Carl, still had no clue at the time. I was working on telling him in a fun way. But it was something after that 3rd test, that my taste disappeared, I got cramps, and the nausea began. I didn’t have any of these symptoms with my first pregnancy, but I had nausea for months from my “hormones needing to balance.”

It was Friday night, the same week I found out I was pregnant, and we were Aeryn’s dance practice. We were sitting in the car and I was miserable. I asked him, “Do you like surprises?” I know he doesn’t, but he said, “No, why are you pregnant?” I swear he know’s me so well! Carl had been wanting another baby for some time. I told him I was and that I found out earlier that week. He was ecstatic! But he asked me was I sure? Like I took 3 tests and feel absolutely horrible. He wanted to make sure I wasn’t joking (as we do a lot), so when we got home, I took a 4th test and gave him all 4 POSITIVE tests!

2nd check up on baby. The day we announced to everyone

Yes, Carl we are expecting! We decided to keep it to ourselves until I went to the doctor. I was still a little in shock so I just wanted to be sure everything was alright before we told our parents and everyone else. So we waited until after my first trimester.

Of course we had to tell Aeryn that she was going to be a big sister and her reaction was priceless!

Here’s our pregnancy announcement!

We love to be creative and have some fun! I provided the ideas to Carl and he executed them!

So about this next one… Carl was asking for ideas and I sent him the Migos album and he took that and ran with it. Since it was 3 of us, it only made sense! I was so thrilled that Aeryn got into it too! She’s serving all the TUDE! Can you guess who’s who?

We just couldn’t wait to meet and bring a new baby into our family! Birth story coming soon!
