I’m not a huge Halloween fan, but I love the idea. I also love the look on my kids faces when they dress up and have fun trick-or-treating.

But let’s be honest, Halloween costumes are cute, but they’re so expensive!

To pay $25 for my kids wear a costume for one night is just crazy. Not to mention if you have multiple kids!

I’ve gotten pretty thrifty and creative with costumes. Sometimes the trick is using what you have to create something new.

I wanted to share a few simple DIY costume ideas for your kids in case you’re like me and just want to save some money this Halloween.

Little Skeletons

This costume idea is probably the easiest and least inexpensive. All you need is a black shirt, pants, and white duct tape! Literally easy as 1,2,3!

Itsy Bitty Spiders

This is what my girls were last year for Halloween. They were the cutest little spiders. I even went along with the theme and created myself a spider web costume.

Spider costume: Black pants, black shirt, 8 black socks (stuffed with newspaper), and eyes from Dollar Tree. This costume is a little tricky but you can hot glue (or sew, whichever you prefer) the socks to the black shirt and pants where you want them. TIP: stuff socks before gluing them!

Spider Web costume: White fabric and black yarn.

Cookies & Milk

This costume I’ll admit is a little bit more complicated than the others, but it’s so cute and worth it! I actually did a blog on how I made these costumes. You can read it here!

To go along with the theme, I made myself a cow costume, which is actually funny because I was breastfeeding.

We also used the Cookie costume as a storybook character costume for Aeryn’s parade at school.

Here’s another Storybook character parade idea. Aeryn loves the Elephant & Piggie books, so it was super easy to create this Piggie!

Wishing you a FUN & SAFE Halloween!
